How the site operates
Austin Roof Crew, at austinroofcrew.com, is a local marketing and booking service for roofing in Austin and the surrounding cities of Travis, Williamson and Hays counties, Texas. It maintains this website and a telephone line that is answered at every hour by an automated receptionist, which records the caller's address, number and roof problem. A roofing contractor returns the call to schedule the inspection. The site operator does not employ roofing crews and maintains no showroom or walk-in office. The inspection, the estimate and the work are performed by independent roofing contractors in the Austin area who carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Assignment of a job to a contractor depends on the type of work, the location of the property and availability. On request, the name of the contractor assigned is given before the inspection is scheduled.
How the site is compensated
When a call or form from this site results in work, the contractor who performed it may pay the site operator a referral or advertising fee. The fee is a matter between the operator and the contractor. It is not added to the estimate, and the estimated price is the same whether or not a fee is paid. Calls and form submissions are counted to measure which pages produce inquiries, and calls may be recorded for accuracy after a spoken notice; the privacy notice lists what is retained. The site uses a cookieless visitor counter and no advertising scripts. Where the site appears in paid search advertising, the advertising platform receives only the data needed to run and measure the advertisement.
What it means for you
The written estimate from the contractor is the price you pay, and it is valid for 30 days, which allows comparison with other estimates. The contractor's own insurance certificate, warranty terms and, where a city requires it, contractor registration are the documents that govern the work; request the certificate and read the agreement before signing. Under Texas Business and Commerce Code section 27.02 the contractor may not pay or waive your insurance deductible, and under Insurance Code section 4102.163 the contractor may not adjust your claim, so no part of the referral arrangement involves your insurance proceeds. A contractor who generates complaints ceases to receive referrals; the complaints policy describes the record kept. Questions about whether a referral is involved in your job, or how to reach the contractor directly, are answered at (737) 260-7893 or hello@austinroofcrew.com.
